Who we are...

African Village Dream is a charity built on just that; a dream.

A dream for a remote Gambian village, Kerr Layen, to educate its own children, grow its own food, and thrive independently.

With 36 hectares of land for rice, mango, and couscous, the village is on its way to self-sustainability.

A hand-built well brings running water for the first time, goats help pay teachers’ wages, and chickens provide fresh eggs.

We’re also supporting new small businesses - from a tailor and a baker to a market garden and farmers.

The school currently has 143 children enrolled, providing two meals a day working from 3 classrooms.

We have started building an additional two as the numbers grow.

Official charity status arrived in July 2025, and together, we’re turning a dream into reality.

Its heart beats pure passion.
